Javier Hernández Losa
PhD, Hospital Universitario XBiografía y Trayectoria
Javier Hernández-Losa, PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (2005), has developed a strong background in cancer research, with a particular emphasis on signaling pathways and cancer biomarker analysis.
He currently leads the Molecular Biology Laboratory within the Department of Pathology at Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron (Barcelona), on of Spain´s nationally recognized reference center for molecular pathology. He is also a member of the Precision Diagnostics and Therapies Program at CIBERONC (CB16/12/00363), contributing to nationwide collaborative efforts in translational cancer research.
Dr. Hernández-Losa has extensive experience in liquid biopsy technologies, including Digital PCR and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), applied to the detection and analysis of exosomes and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). These tools have been employed in both in vitro models (breast cancer) and clinical samples, particularly in patients with advanced-stage of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
He has participated as a co-investigator in multiple national and international research projects and has served as principal investigator on several national and institutional (non-competitive) grants. His strong commitment to academic mentorship is reflected in his supervision of three PhD theses and over eleven Master's projects, along with ongoing support for early-career researchers. Finally, he is the author of 117 peer-reviewed publications, which have received 5,784 citations to date with and H-index 43.
